Stock Watch: Tiger's back! Signing books
Each week on GolfChannel.com, well examine which players stocks and trends are rising and falling in the world of golf.RISINGMarc Leishman (+7%): Often solid but unspectacular, Leishman came through when it mattered most, burying a long eagle putt to steal the Bay Hill title. The celebration was extra sweet, after his wifes serious health issues over the past two years. LPGA (+5%): Whats gotten into the ladies (and course setup crew)? Anna Nordqvist became the latest player to go crazy-low on the womens tour; three of five events this year have been won with at least a 22-under total.Rory (+3%): Hes fresh after a light spring schedule, hes as confident as ever with the driver, and DJ and Spieth have created all of the pre-Masters buzz hello, Augusta?Stacy Lewis (+1%): Thats 13 runners-up since her last victory, in 2014. Its admirable that she keeps putting herself in position to get her heart broken.Kasumigaseki Country Club (+0.1%): Common sense prevailed and the 2020 Olympic hosts voted to admit women. But worthy of worldwide praise, they are not.
FALLINGEmiliano Grillo (-1%): Had he not self-immolated on the par-5 sixth hole Saturday and, you know, just made par instead of a 9 he would have played off for the title with Leishman. Oops.Kevin Kisner (-2%): Kiz often gets credited for being fearless in the heat of competition, but coughing up the lead by playing his last 11 holes in 3 over par wont help his rep.Brooks Koepka (-3%): Ranked 164th in strokes gained-tee to green, the rising star has taken a big step back, with four missed cuts and no finish better than 42nd in six starts. Time is running out to get his shaky ball-striking in order.Steve Stricker (-4%): Leading by two with three to play in his Champions debut, Stricks whiffed a 4-footer and then made a poor club choice, hitting 3-wood into the water on the final hole to lose by one. Winning is hard at any level, even on the relaxed senior circuit. Book signings (-5%): Are we really that desperate for Tiger news that his book signing Monday was covered like a major, with reporters and cameramen and live-stream videos? (Spoiler alert: He signed his name in 300 books.) Ugh.
